  • Booking a morning appointment stops you from thinking (and worrying about!) your visit.
  • Your first appointment will be a consultation, where you get to talk to your dentist and ask about your treatment. Nothing more needs to happen at this stage
  • A friend or a family member can be a great help if you’re worried. They can talk to you about their experiences and how positive they were.
  • Dental phobias can be triggered by feeling that you have limited control over what is happening to you. Agree with your dentist on a signal if you wish to take a break during your appointment.
  • Take your treatment in small, manageable steps. Start with something quick and simple, such as having your teeth cleaned, and work up to bigger treatments.
